President Report

  • Wayne filled out 2020 tax returns; Prior contact has retired; looking for someone else to do our taxes next year
  • Discussion prompted the question as to whether or not we have legal counsel; we have not needed it, but should we make contact with someone? Looking for ideas here as well

Treasurer Report

  • $37,294.47 – MSC Curt, Del
  • NDGF grant approved for Ladies Rooster Roundup

Parks & Recreation

  • NDWF – Strategic planning / SWOT analysis – meeting held in July
  • Red River Development – ANS cleaning station – moving forward with ANS station; it is considered a “dry station” and will go near the cleaning station
  • Terry Steinwand retiring at the end of July as the NDGF Director – should RRASC do a recognition award of some sort? Or other gesture? No decision was made.

  • Friday, October 22 for setup and Saturday, October 23 for preparation and the actual Event
  • St. John’s Church Mehock Center kitchen for Friday, October 22 for food preparation.

Jr Wildlife Club Committee (Cindie Van Tassel, Rich Truesdell)

  • July was fishing at Mooreton Pond; warm water; 4 youth attended
  • August is a bus trip to Dalton, MN to see the Preserve the Tradition Museum

  • Still trying to find a work night

  • Veterans Hunt (Abby Carlson, Mary Rausch) – Sep 11 and 12, 2021. Strongly considering going down to one day and cutting participants from 12 to 8 people due to lack of outside funding sources (grants, donations).

Trap Clubs

  • Head of the Red Gun Archery Club (Brian Gefre) – clubhouse opened May 4, 2021
  • Mooreton Sportsmen’s Club, Joe Pikarski Trap Range & MSC Rifle/Pistol Range (Bob Rosemore, Greg Gerou, Mark Althoff) – league play began Jun 2, 2021

Recruitment (Greg Gerou, Abby Carlson, Mary Rausch, Mandy Steinberger, Becci Truesdell, Kelly Carlson)

  • Membership drive – we currently have less than 100 paid members
  • Please consider bringing guests or potential new members to the September meeting this fall!
  • Looking for opportunities to engage 16-18 year olds (Jr Wildlife is through age 15); please share any ideas with one of the committee members

Bench recognition plaque name nominations

  • Plan is to have multiple names per plaque – 5 benches will need plaques
  • Nominations received: Randy Hovde, Vince Herding, Mike Fenske, Jeff Trom, Larry Brunkhorst, Marv Manock, Randy Hoerer, Wayne Beyer
  • We have been quoted $25 per plaque so far; looking at a couple other options as well

Pop-up online store (Abby)

  • Pending Board review; can be used as a fundraiser for the club
  • Online clothing store; will include stickers, koozies, coffee mugs, etc
  • Waiting on graphics from Grippers

Land Grant Application (Abby)

  • NAVHDA is requesting $500 through a grant request
  • Tabled until the next meeting – group had additional questions regarding grant specifics

Reminder that NDGF grant requests can be used in addition to scheduled youth hunts – if youth would like to go out hunting, please talk to the RRASC Board about funding options
