President’s Report

Consider an investment plan for the club through Thrivent (Tom Larson)

  • Discussed transfer of funds from our checking account into investment; liquid with growth opportunities
  • Endowment Option: $25,000 minimum to start; can grant funds in and out if necessary
  • Investment Option: $2,000 minimum to start; we can use it to build towards an endowment; we have the option to convert this to an endowment once $25,000 is reached
  • Anyone can transfer funds/land/etc into either option
  • Conversation with Bank of the West was not productive in terms of investment options
  • Discussed starting with the Investment Option through Thrivent and building towards an endowment
  • We can decide how much we want to start with, with the minimum being $2,000
  • Discussed transferring funds from our checking account at the end of each calendar year into the investment account
  • After the 3rd year, we could make withdrawals from the investment without a penalty; the penalty is minimal within the first 3 years
  • Motion was made to invest $10,000 in a Thrivent Investment account at a moderate risk level pending additional follow up questions that Greg G will take back to Tom Larson:
  • Can we put a cap on the risk we are willing to take? Can we set a maximum withdrawal amount? Can we establish account reviews in semi-annual intervals?

Need a club member to manage grants

  • Both RRASC application for grant funding and receiving requests; we have over 20 grant opportunities
  • Becci will reach out to a colleague, who writes grants for a living, to get more information on what an individual can expect with this role

Treasurer Report
