Board of Directors Reports

President

  • Lewis & Clark Club uses Scheels fishing department for their fishing events
  • Abby Carlson submitted a grant request to ND Wildlife for $1,000 for the Ladies Hunt. It was approved and a check is coming.
  • Park & Rec has t-shirts in storage they no longer need and the club can use them. Going to go through after tonight’s meeting. Knights of Columbus could use any blue ones.
  • Shot of Hope article in the Daily News. It might be a good program to support.
  • There are five completed duck houses for Chuck Haus’s property.
  • Going to need assistance to get the birds for the pheasant hunts. Kelly said he would be available to pick up for the October 18 hunt.

Treasurer

  • Grant request for Twist of Fate Hunt on September 26-29 (MSC Rich, Kelly)

General Committee Reports

Parks & Recreation

  • Kidder & Golf Course piers are in
  • A possible location for one of our docks is just south of the park football field (near 6th Street)

Jr. Wildlife Club

  • August 8 at the Chahinkapa Zoo – 14 kids plus a few parents that stayed. Got to see snow leopards, bears, tigers, Tal.
  • Continuing to have some no-shows. Consider to start sending out post emails to those that don’t show who are registered.
  • September 19 is Intro to Deer Hunting

Mooreton Trap

  • Current raffle going to to support their programs and up keep
  • Range Patrons – $160 the 1st year for a sign at the trap range
  • Labor Day Turkey Shoot at noon

Public Relations

  • Upcoming Community Events – NDSCS Block Party August 25, Headwaters Parade September 14, NDSCS Homecoming Parade October 5

Air Rifle

  • We should research when the appropriate time of year is to hold this activity that would align with competition opportunities.
  • Brad suggested that there may be a way to have the range set up permanently in the newly cleaned out side room and share the space with archery.

Sportsmen’s Smoker – Saturday, October 19 doors will open at 4 p.m. this year.

  • Posters, tickets and donation materials are all ready – contact Rich or Becci
  • Additional 10 prize raffle plus regular smoker tickets.
  • Guns will be registered through Trigger and all winners will receive redemption certificates with an expiration date.
  • An email will be sent out with information about tickets, donations, ect.
  • New games this year – more information coming
  • All donations will need to be collected by October 1 this year.

Seasonal Committee Reports

  • MN Youth Goose Hunt (Cindie) – September 7-8
    • Cindie has the event on Facebook. Each day is set for 4 kids and they all will shot Friday night at the Head of the Red.
  • Marv Manock Youth Waterfowl Hunt (Kevin) – September 14
    • Kevin will need extra help getting ready for the event. Greg will help with the kitchen. Need mentors and bring waivers. Event will be added to website for registration.
  • Youth Pheasant Hunt (Mark) – October 5
  • Ladies Rooster Roundup (Abby) – October 18-19

Other Group Events

  • Richland County Pheasants Youth Hunt – October 12
  • Band of Brothers – October 26

Good of the Order

  • Fish submission: Justin Kratz Catfish 20.8 lb 36” Grand Forks, Kris Kratz 19.1 lb Grand Forks
  • Thank you from Dave and Katie Pauly for their Medora trip.
  • Club Building – Rich knows someone who has a shop that will be opening up for rent. It could be a good option for holding shooting activities and storage. Currently $2,000/mo. plus electric and heat. It has a bathroom.
