Treasurer Report (Greg Braun)

  • $37,192.60 – MSC Wayne, Abby
  • Received funding request from the Northern Lights Council for $250 (NLC supports various camps in the area; MSC Brad, Joe to approve the $250 request)
  • Received grant request from Mooreton Sportsmen’s Club for $500 (New roofs needed for storage shed and main building; NDGF has approved $1000 for this project; MSC Brad, Leroy to approve the $500 request)

Parks & Recreation Report (Wayne Beyer)

NDGF

  • Spring Advisory Board Mtg – Monday, April 19, 2021 at American Legion, Lake Elsie, Hankinson
  • Property owners can post their land online; has been expanded state-wide from the original 3 county pilot; landowners would need to re-post their land annually via the website if this method is used a. Per NDGF email sent out on May 19, 2021: Landowners interested in posting electronically for the 2021-22 hunting season can log into My Account on the NDGF website, gf.nd.gov. The deadline for landowners to digitally post land is July 15. Landowners new to the site will need to create a profile, while others who have previously purchased a hunting or fishing license can proceed to the Land Parcel section at the bottom of the page.

Red River Development

  • ANS dry wash station will be installed at Kidder Rec Area by the fish cleaning station – plan is to have this located across from the cleaning station
  • Applied for grants for the youth hunts for $3000

Sportfishing Congress Update: RRASC will need a new club rep at some point; if you are interested, please reach out to Wayne Beyer or Greg Gerou for more information

Hunters Smoker (Curt Mund, Vern Shasky, Rich & Becci Truesdell, Abby Carlson) – Oct 23, 2021. 

  • Friday October 22 for setup and Saturday October 23 for preparation and the actual Event. 
  • St. John’s Church Mehock Center kitchen for Friday October 22 for food preparation.

Jr Wildlife Club Committee (Cindie Van Tassel, Rich Truesdell)

  • Birding at Prairie Wetlands will take place the week after the April meeting.
  • Looking for bee pollinator kits for May meeting

Public Relations (Rich Truesdell, Joe Keller, Brad Glarum, Cindie Van Tassel, Mandy Steinberger).

Mooreton Pond Projects (Brad Glarum, Greg Gerou, Vern Shasky, Rich Truesdell)

  • Will be putting in 3 west docks the week after the April meeting
  • The dock that needs floats will be put in after floats are installed; NDGF will be delivering the floats

Fishing/Hunting Events

  • Neil Heitkamp Ice Fishing Derby (Vern Shasky, Cindie Van Tassel) – Feb 19, 2022
  • Vince Herding Youth Fishing Derby (Rich & Becci Truesdell) – May 1, 2021 @ Kidder Rec – volunteers needed – Becci brought posters; have done radio ads; volunteers needed at 7am; prizes to be purchased
  • Dick Bell Catfish Derby (Justin Kratz) – Jun 5, 2021 @ Kidder Rec – volunteers needed
  • Family Fishing Nights (Cindie Van Tassel) – TBD for 2021. 8-10 volunteers would be needed each week (one week per month, June-August) in order to proceed with requesting permits. Discussed possibility to have reduced evenings; no decision made; number of volunteers would impact this decision.
  • Brunk’s Carp & Sucker Derby (Greg Gerou, Wayne Beyer) – Aug 4, 2021 @ Kidder Rec – volunteers needed
  • Fall Youth Goose Hunt (Dylan Teberg, Cindie Van Tassel) – TBD for 2021 – grant funding has been received
  • Veterans Hunt (Abby Carlson, Mary Rausch) – Sep 11 and 12, 2021. Working on funding; looking at approx. $5800 for the event – some funds have been received to date; some have been approved and are pending being received.
  • Marv Manock Youth Waterfowl Hung (Kevin Manock) – Sep 18, 2021 @ Tewaukon
  • Fall Youth Pheasant Hunt (Mark Althoff) – Oct 2, 2021 @ Chuck Haus’s
  • Ladies Rooster Roundup (Abby Carlson) – Oct 16, 2021 @ Chuck Haus’s

National Wild Turkey Federation (Richland Renegade Toms Chairperson Brad Glarum) – Jun 4, 2021 @ Mooreton – volunteers needed. 

  • Plan to have 12-13 guns; doors are at 5:30pm
  • Brad hopes to have sponsorship info at the May meeting as well as tickets.

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (Bois-de-Sioux Chapter) – TBD for 2022. 

  • 17 youth participated at the 2021 banquet.

Trap Clubs

  • Head of the Red Gun Archery Club (Brian Gefre) – clubhouse opens May 4, 2021
  • Mooreton Sportsmen’s Club, Joe Pikarski Trap Range & MSC Rifle/Pistol Range (Bob Rosemore, Greg Gerou, Mark Althoff) – league play begins Jun 2, 2021. Grant requests have been sent out; Looking into a raffle to raise funds.

Recruitment (Greg Gerou, Abby Carlson, Mary Rausch, Mandy Steinberger, Becci Truesdell, Kelly Carlson). 

  • Please consider bringing guests or potential new members to the September meeting this fall!. 
  • Looking for opportunities to engage 16-18 year olds (Jr Wildlife is through age 15); please share any ideas with one of the committee members

Old / New / Unfinished Business 

  • Reloading Supplies – https://recobstargetshop.com. Potential trip to Recob’s Target Shop in Wisconsin in May (Paul Roeder). Rifle & Shotgun reloading supplies. If you need additional contact information, please contact Greg Gerou.
  • Bench recognition plaque name nominations. Plan is to have multiple names per plaque – 5 benches will need plaques Nominations received: Randy Hovde, Vince Herding, Mike Fenske, Jeff Trom, Larry Brunkhorst, Marv Manock.. We have been quoted $25 per plaque so far; looking at a couple other options as well.
  • Pop-up online store (Abby) – Pending Board review. Online clothing store; will include stickers, koozies, coffee mugs, etc. Can be used as a fundraiser for the club.
