Board of Directors Reports

President

  • Guest Speaker: Tom Larson, Thrivent Rep. Recapped the club’s investments and possible future options.
    • We started it a couple of years ago with the hope to move some funds into an endowment that will help fund us having a permanent building.
  • Checking into doing paid digital marketing promotion to increase club membership. Talked to Dot the Monster and found that KBMW also does some.

Treasurer

  • Scholarship $1,500, Catfish Payouts $118.05, Econo Derby/Jr. Wildlife $79.43, Smoker $81.32, T&J Dumpsters $220, Jr Wildlife $22.57
  • $97,474 all accounts / Thrivent $11,000+

General Committee Reports
Jr. Wildlife Club

  • July 17 – Canoeing and Kayaking at Mooreton Pond
    • 10 kids participated in canoeing, next year focus more on the kayaking
  • Next month is Chahinkapa Zoo
  • Chuck Haus has a request to build bat houses as a possible Jr. Wildlife project for his farm. He would help with materials. Check with the scout troop since the next building event isn’t until March. Let Greg know if the scouts are not interested.
  • We will find the next hunter’s safety classes in Wahpeton and will share it with the Jr Wildlife email list.

Public Relations

  • Operation Zero Sponsorship $550 for their August event – possible tabling opportunity
  • Upcoming Community Events – August 24 NDSCS Block Party, September 13 Headwaters, NDSCS Homecoming October 4
  • Please use the new canopy, table cloth and sail flag at all club events and those events we go to
  • Please remember to share your photos with the club (redriverareasportsmen@gmail.com) and follow and share our social posts.

Recruitment

  • It was brought up to reach out to the SE club members to increase our membership.

  • MN Youth Goose Hunt – September 13 & 14
  • Youth Waterfowl Hunt – September 19 & 20
  • Youth Pheasant Hunt – October 4
    • Greg & Chuck will talk with Hankinson to see if we should combine for this year
  • Ladies Rooster Round-up – October 18

Internal Club Contests

  • Hunter Smith (youth) – Catfish 21”
