The Red River Area Sportsmen’s Club was organized in March of 1985 by members of the Wahpeton and Breckenridge community to contribute to the conservation of hunting and fishing in the area.
Our mission is to provide a common meeting ground for sportspeople and wildlife conservationists by which a united and organized effort can be made for the propagation, conservation and protection of all forms of wildlife in North Dakota and Minnesota.
RRASC is an affiliated member of the North Dakota Wildlife Federation, which focuses on legislative and conservative issues that affect North Dakota and the local region. Through the NDWF, the RRASC is also affiliated with the National Wildlife Federation focusing on national issues.
We are also a member of the South East Area Sportsmen’s Club of North Dakota, addressing hunting and fishing issues that are of concern for the whole southeast portion of the state. We work closely with the Minnesota D.N.R. regarding hunting, fishing and river access issue for the region and also have a project partnership with the Tewaukon Wildlife Refuge.
There are a number of youth catch and release fishing contests in all seasons, with prizes and awards for many categories of fish. Events are FREE to youth up to the age of 18. We also host youth pheasant and duck hunts, covering the cost of meals, shells and clay target for practice shooting prior to each hunt. The RRASC also sponsors a number of youth trap and skeet shooting teams at the local ranges. We would be interested in working with any youth oriented group on their outdoor activities or project.
